Utawarerumono…..

No, I have not abandoned it. Allthough Basic is missing again as usual, the project is still having it’s “alive” status, and I do typeset scripts for uta every now and then between otehr things.

truth to be told though, I dont know what to do with it… With the ps4/vita remake coming out and all (I know, it’s not the same! The original’s isometric style and lovely sprites make it a whole different experience than the nonsense 3d they keep shovellin’ everywhere nowadays…) still though, I am torn…

status updates yay!

Sooo, since we finally got back to working on Utawarerumono portable after Basic’s mystical disappearance, here’s some stats about how the project is actually going…. The project page has also been brought up to date.

– Graphics: 99,9% (only ending credits roll text graphic is undone.)
– Raws checked: [ 316 / 316 files – 100%]
– Translation: [ 159 / 316 files – ~51%]
– Script Check: [ 117 / 316 files – ~34%] [ 13705 / 35133 lines ] (re)translated
– Misc. hacking: 95% (only hacking part left is a new stringbuffer for dictionary entries.)

The total count of files that need to be edited came out to be 316 files and 35133 lines of text, from which half have been translated and a bit less typesetted. Basic’s hard at work translating more and I will start typesetting the newly translated stuff shortly.

More zombies, apocalypse incoming!

It happened, after over a year of complete incognito silcence dissappearance ninja-vanish, Basic just randomly reappeared couple nights ago. That in itself is good news for our baby-project Utawarerumono portable but that’s not all, it appears that the “little” break our translator decided to take was good for him and he’s having full tank of energy and enthusiasm, enough that he’s spitting out scripts faster than I manage to keep up. Yeah bois, Uta is back on track after a year of silence! (project status updates once I get new scripts checked out et cetera, I do have Zill O’ll infinite plus to manage too, and I’m working on mapping the remaining script raws for Basic to chew on.)

I put the project page of utawarerumono up to date and am working on more to come… hopefully a bit faster than what i’ve recently done. Either way, game’s fully translated up to meeting Karura now and looking good and working as intended so far.

Finally some updates !

As per usual…. my apologies for having a life and whatnot..

But yes, we are alive and still (atleast giving the illusion of) working on uta! I updated the projects page and we are now past 12k lines mark with the script. Currenly the game is completely translated up to the scene of first meeting with Kuuya, and as before, the team burns with the desire to actually walk this project to the very end while struggling with real life interferences.

….some day, it will be done and we can die happy :)

Late project updates

As usual, updates have been far and between…. My apologies for that.

Allow me to explain a bit of what’s been going on ever since the last posts around christmas times.

First of all; Personal matters. I now have a girlfriend who im going to marry very soon, and hence my real life has been turned into something i have to now pay a lot of attention instead of being something i mostly ignored as an unneccessary nuisance before. Thats one thing, i havent given Utawarerumono the attention it requires, and for that my apologies.

secondly; the translation.

as sad as i am to say, we have not heard from Basic at all basically ever since january, and we have been unable to contact him at all, which means that the project is for the first time in it’s history in real jeopardy. If it comes to that, i will look for alternate sources to complete this patch, but not before i have had a definite confirmation that Basic wont do it. The OC in me prevents me from having anyone else work on it and compromise the steady quality and consistency of the script. This patch is still something primarily worked for ourselves, and after that, for other people to enjoy, and my perfectionism simply places the quality over extended periods of time, whether it be months or years… I do realize this will be a dissappointment for those to hear who were actually waiting for it to complete… i am sorry to say i have completely lost a timeframe for it’s completion now, and the future events will tell how it goes.

delays delays delays…

It looks like Basic will be a little more busy with things that are not Utawarerumono than he originally planned to, so just a heads up for anyone who happens to give a shit about us and our doings, resuming work on Uta1 will propably have to wait until Christmas and new year are over…

I havent heard of Basic in some days now and I’ll be halting my own doings in a few days to settle down for Christmas anyway so there won’t be much going on as far as projects go…

Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate English patch 1.0 released!

Our resident translator Basic worked on this game with his own group Basic Translations, If you’re a fan of Visual novels in general, it’s worth being checked out.

The reason im posting that though, is the fact that now that he’s done with his own timewasters, he can waste more time with Utaware again. :) Though naturally im just gonna let him rest until he feels like picking it up again.

At any rate, three hoorays for Basic and the rest of the crew for getting it done, VN’s are a pain in the ass to translate because WALLSOFTEXT! so it’s always heartwarming to see a project finish.

October (or something) Updates

That time of the year again ehh…. updates…

Just kidding, but yes, I’ll admit it, i’ve been neclegting the project for a while again. Either way, the breakdown of the current state of the project has been updated on the Project page and as promised, I changed the way the progress is displayed to separare translated content and the content that has it’s 1st pass of translation quality check done. Im kinda feeling like playing the game again a little, so I’ll try and give it more time in the near future.

All in all, it’s still quite a way from being finished but it’s gone quite a ways from the point of beginning too, and it’s looking as good as ever too. I dont think it’s realistic to expect it to be ready before 2016 though, but god knows… it really boils down to how fast I get arsed to work and how fast Basic gets arsed to translate more, since when I pick it up full-time, the gap between my state of script checks and his state of script translation is a matter of week at most.
